In advancing the financial literacy of Hong Kong people, it is important to foster closer communication and collaboration amongst stakeholders. This newsletter serves as a tool to engage the Financial Literacy Strategy 2019 (FL Strategy) supporting organisations and stakeholders through highlighting some of the recent development in financial education (FE) and sharing the approaches to FE by some practitioners.

Core Competencies Framework on Financial Literacy for Investors launched during World Investor Week 2019


To underscore the importance of investor education and protection, the IFEC and stakeholders kicked off the World Investor Week (WIW) 2019, a global campaign led by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 29 September 2019. At the event, a Core Competencies Framework on Financial Literacy for Retail Investors was introduced to support the development and implementation of investor education initiatives.

Hong Kong Financial Competency Framework now covers kindergarten students


The Hong Kong Financial Competency Framework, which identifies a set of knowledge, skills, attitudes, motivations and behaviour required for financial literacy, introduced by the IFEC in 2015, was recently updated and expanded to cover the financial competencies for kindergarten students. The framework can be used by different organisations, such as government bodies, policymakers, NGOs, financial institutions and education providers, that are interested in the provision of financial education.




Responding to Public Consultation on Hong Kong's Primary and Secondary Curricula


As advocacy on financial literacy is one of the strategic focuses of the Financial Literacy Strategy, the IFEC and 29 supporting organisations submitted a joint response to a public consultation on Hong Kong’s Primary and Secondary Curricula.


Hong Kong Money Month 2020


Hong Kong Money Month (HKMM) is entering its fourth year since the campaign debuted. Supporting organisations and stakeholders are invited to participate and support the upcoming HKMM 2020, which will take place throughout the month of March 2020.
